Hello, everyone! You may have already guessed (or maybe you haven’t) that I’m a new face here at Hill Impact. My name is Rowen Keifer-Hankins, I’m 22 years old, cat-parent, resident of Fairfax, VA and the team’s newest spring intern.
I graduated from George Mason University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in communication, focusing my studies in public relations. Although I’m still undecided about what I want to specialize in, I’m really excited to get my feet wet in the communications/public relations field. I’m specifically interested in learning more about food and entertainment PR and brand and reputation management. Since Hill Impact is experienced in reputation and crisis management, these next few months will definitely be an interesting learning experience.
Let me throw down some other facts that you need to know about me. (1) I love to sleep, (2) Real estate browsing is a serious obsession, and (3) I love coffee.
You’re probably thinking “Wow, I can relate to the first and last point, but the second? Weird.” I know, I know - but hear me out! I enjoy looking at real estate because you can explore places without leaving the comfort of your home. Bonus: it also appeals to that inner need to see aesthetically-pleasing pictures. Financially, it’s a great hobby because it doesn’t cost anything to “travel” to these places. But I must admit, it does have its ups and downs. A perfect example would be seeing the house of your dreams and then seeing how much it costs in reality.
As a result of long nights filled with deadlines and procrastination in college, I developed an aversion to a full cycle of sleep and an unhealthy addiction to anything coffee related. Luckily, this experience taught me to appreciate how much sleep I get and how to effectively manage my time. I’ve since lessened my coffee intake. Maybe someday I’ll be able to function without coffee and actually get a full eight hours of sleep, but today is not that day.
That’s all I have at the moment, but feel free to send me a shout out or email to firstname.lastname@example.org! I love connecting with new people and am always open to setting up a potential coffee/lunch date.
