I am Selly, Hill Impact’s fall communication intern! I recently graduated from George Mason University after studying communication, public relations and tourism and events management. I am originally from Mauritania, where it is always summer-- so it is no surprise that I can’t really handle these Virginia winters. During my time at Hill Impact, I will be juggling different tasks, from monitoring media, drafting press releases, articles and blogs to participating in the implementation of different client projects.
Why PR? Well, I always wanted to be part of a fast-paced industry where I could make a difference by turning ideas into impactful stories. Hill Impact is the place to be; I get the chance to work with an impressive group of people, which will only make me smarter, right?! Through this internship, I am hoping to further develop my project management abilities and analytical skills, as well as take advantage of a diversified real-world experience that will provide me with the necessary skills to excel in the industry.
During my free time, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places in the city. My friends think that I am very adventurous because I am always looking to try odd things like learning how to read people’s lives with tarot cards and other means. ...But, don’t worry, I was the worst at it so there’s no chance that I can unveil all your secrets.
Also, I might be addicted to food. I mean, seriously who doesn’t love food? When exploring different restaurants and recipes, the number one factor for me is the diversity in the food and how it relates to a certain culture. So, I am not only enjoying the food, but the history behind it. Fun fact-- my ultimate goal in life is to be a worldwide food traveler and commentator, so, if you have a restaurant in mind or a certain type of recipe that I should try, please send it my way (reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org). I will gladly give feedback and add it to my food blog, so stay tuned, friends.
On a final note, I am very grateful to be a part of Hill Impact, working with such a smart and creative group of people!
